Wee Care
"Wee Care," a highly specialized area of The Longstreet Clinic's Center for Pediatrics Department, has been specifically designed for newborns and their parents. With small, intimate office settings, the Wee Care area separates newborn babies from other children, protecting them from childhood diseases.
There’s always a little bit of fear or worry when it’s time for new parents to take their infant to the doctor for a well baby visit.
The thought of taking a baby who appears perfectly healthy into a waiting room full of crying, coughing and sneezing children can be maddening for a mom or dad.
What if, by doing what my pediatrician recommended, I expose my baby to a virus and my baby gets sick?
This is exactly the scenario that our pediatricians at the Center for Pediatrics wanted to eliminate with the Wee Care office in Gainesville. For well baby visits only, Wee Care offers a small, intimate office setting with four patient exam rooms set up for newborn checkups at two weeks, two months and four months of age.
Geared for infants age four months old or younger, the Wee Care office is baby-oriented, with rocking chairs and nursery décor. Wee Care is open for appointments Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
All expectant parents also are invited to attend our monthly Baby Care 101 class. Held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month, Baby Care 101 provides expectant and new families with essential information on all aspects of caring for a new baby, including feeding, bathing, well baby visits and when to call the pediatrician. A tour of Wee Care is included. Baby Care 101 is free, but registration is required. Please call (770) 297-2213 to register.
