With more than 85 physicians, The Longstreet Clinic, P.C. recently joined the Medical Association of Georgia (MAG), according to MAG President Sandra B. Reed, M.D. MAG now has more than 6,500 members – up some 12 percent in the last year.
“The Longstreet Clinic has cared for more than 145,000 patients in north Georgia in the last two years alone,” Dr. Reed explains. “This is a great partnership because MAG and The Longstreet Clinic share a common vision for excellent, patient-centered health care.”
With 15 specialties in its portfolio, The Longstreet Clinic cares for its patients at its main campus in Gainesville – as well as offices in Oakwood, Buford, Braselton, Dahlonega, Baldwin, Cumming, and Toccoa. The Atlanta Business Chronicle ranked the physician-owned clinic as the eighth largest physician group practice and the third largest independent group practice in Metro Atlanta in 2011.
“As the complexities of health care delivery and health care policy increase, our physicians want to stay informed and be active in the process that can lead to better care for our patients,” says Richard J. Dr. Reed adds that, “MAG is the leading advocacy organization for physicians in every specialty and practice setting in the state, and we’re growing stronger and more diverse with each day.”
She notes that MAG’s priorities for the 2012 legislative session will include preserving physician autonomy, ensuring adequate Medicaid pay for physicians, tort reform, relieving the burdens that are placed on physicians by health insurance companies, and monitoring the state’s implementation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA).
