The Longstreet Clinic, P.C., is pleased to announce that its Vascular & Vein Specialists practice in Gainesville is now the only IAC-accredited Vein Center in the state of Georgia.
This recognition for superficial venous treatment and management by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission means that Vascular & Vein Specialists at The Longstreet Clinic has voluntarily undergone a thorough review of its operational and technical components by a panel of experts. The IAC grants three-year accreditation only to those facilities that are found to be providing quality patient care in compliance with national standards through a comprehensive application process including a detailed review of selected patient procedures.
“While we have always prided ourselves on providing top quality vascular and vein care to our patients, we are proud that care has been recognized by the IAC, making Vascular & Vein Specialists the only fully accredited vein center in Georgia and only one of 11 centers in the United States,” said Dan Procter, M.D., FACS, vascular surgeon.
Procter, along with Dev Mangalat, M.D., FACS, and Suman Annambhotla, M.D., bring more than 40 years of combined experience in the treatment of venous conditions to Vascular & Vein Specialists.
More than half of Americans 50 and older are affected by varicose veins. Varicose veins occur when the valves in the leg veins no longer function, causing blood to pool in the legs. This condition can progress to a more serious form of venous disease known as chronic venous insufficiency.
According to the IAC, whether it’s to relieve symptoms or improve appearance, treating varicose veins can be performed by vein centers that specialize in the evaluation and management of superficial venous disorders. There are many facets that contribute to a positive patient outcome; successful treatment of the venous disorder, the training and experience of the vein specialist performing the procedure, the type of equipment used and the quality assessment metrics each facility is required to measure. Full IAC accreditation ensures all of these standards are being met.
