Betsy Grunch, M.D., FAANS, FACS, a board-certified neurosurgeon with Longstreet Clinic, has been recognized among “America’s Best Spine Surgeons 2024” by Newsweek and Statista, an exclusive list of the best 150 best spine surgeons in the country.
The rankings were released on Newsweek’s website on June 12 and also will be published in an upcoming print edition of Newsweek. According to the Newsweek release, “America’s Best Spine Surgeons 2024” were determined based on data sources including the following:
- Physician Performance Data: Based on Medicare data from CareJourney in 2022, an evaluation of the physician’s performed procedures was conducted.
- Online Survey by State: During the survey period from March to April 2024, thousands of medical experts (physicians with knowledge in the field of spine surgery, managers/administrators, and other medical professionals in the field of spine surgery) were invited to an online survey via Newsweek.com.
- Quality Score: For recommendations in their own state, participants were asked to assess the quality of care (e.g. treatments, follow-up care, use of most recent equipment) for each spine surgeon.
- Certifications: Board certification was taken into consideration for all eligible spine surgeons.

A Hall County native, Dr. Grunch specializes in minimally invasive spinal surgery and artificial disc replacement. She was named a Top Doctor by Georgia Trend magazine (2020, 2021, 2022, 2023), and Atlanta magazine (2022, 2023 & 2024) and was named to several “40 under 40” lists, among other honors. She also was recognized among Atlanta magazine’s “Women Making a Mark” in 2023. Additionally, Dr. Grunch is proud to support community causes and raised over $92,000 for north Georgia charities as a celebrity dancer and winner of the 2023 Dancing for Cause fundraising competition.
When she is not caring for her patients, Dr. Grunch enjoys spending time with her family, teaching fellow neurosurgeons advanced surgical techniques and interacting with her 3.5 million followers on social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram, among others.
