Longstreet Clinic neurosurgeon Betsy H. Grunch, M.D., FAANS, FACS, recently was named among Atlanta magazine’s 2023 “Women Making a Mark.”
According to Atlanta, the Women Making a Mark program “celebrates the contributions and successes of women in metro Atlanta who have made a significant impact in our community” while displaying traits such as “tireless dedication, strong leadership and impassioned good will.” These honorees are committed to their profession, their community, and to helping Atlanta and its citizens.”
Past honorees make up a diverse group of business executives and owners, entrepreneurs, Supreme Court judges, doctors, lawyers, philanthropists, mayors, nonprofit leaders, and community volunteers.
A native of Hall County, Ga., Dr. Grunch’s interest in neurosurgery was sparked at an early age when her mother suffered a spinal cord injury in an auto accident while on duty as a Hall County deputy. A graduate of the University of Georgia, Dr. Grunch went on to earn her medical degree at the Medical College of Georgia, and completed her neurosurgery residency and fellowship at Duke University.
She returned home to Gainesville and began practice at Longstreet Clinic in 2013. A board-certified neurosurgeon, Dr. Grunch helped Longstreet Clinic establish the Neuroscience & Orthopedic Center in 2021. She welcomes patients at offices in Gainesville, Braselton and Demorest where she treats a wide array of neurosurgical issues, specializing in minimally invasive spinal procedures as well as cervical and lumbar artificial disc replacement.
