Betsy Grunch, M.D., FAANS, FACS, a board-certified neurosurgeon with Longstreet Clinic, is headed to Paris. She and four other women medical providers will attend the Olympic Games on behalf of FIGS, a healthcare apparel and lifestyle brand that is outfitting over 250 Team USA health care medics and professionals.
Dr. Grunch, who is a FIGS brand ambassador, has over 3.5 million followers on social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram. She will travel to France on Friday, meeting up with two medical residents, a nurse practitioner and a nurse on Saturday. On behalf of FIGS, they will attend events like gymnastics, basketball and fencing, and share content on their social channels during their five days in the host city.
According to FIGS, this is the first time in history a company has outfitted a country’s medical professionals at the Olympic Games. “This is an investment in ensuring that our health care professionals have what they need to go out and support our athletes,” FIGS founder and CEO, Trina Spear, said as part of the sponsorship agreement.
For Dr. Grunch, it’s an opportunity to check off an item on her bucket list while supporting Team USA and the medical professionals helping them succeed in Paris.
“It’s the experience of a lifetime really, and I’m super excited,” she said, calling it a historical milestone in healthcare and sports. “Those who know me best understand how much I value teamwork, so this is the perfect opportunity to show support for both Team USA and their awesome volunteer healthcare providers during the Games.”
Those interested in following her journey can do so on Instagram and TikTok via @ladyspinedoc. She also posts content on other platforms like Facebook and YouTube.
