The Center for Women’s Health at The Longstreet Clinic, P.C., is pleased to announce that W. Thomas “Tommy” Jenkins, M.D., was recently honored with the Alpha Omega Alpha Volunteer Clinical Faculty Award presented by the Medical College of Georgia. Dr. Jenkins was selected for the award by his peers, faculty, staff and alumni.
According to Dr. Clarence Joe with Alpha Omega Alpha, the award is in recognition of “outstanding personal and professional achievements” and “continued dedication to excellence in medical education of our students.”
Elected to the Alpha of Georgia Chapter in 2009, Dr. Jenkins was honored at April’s AOA banquet in Augusta.
“I am extremely proud of this department and its effort with regards to this teaching opportunity,” Dr. Jenkins said. The award demonstrates that the Center for Women’s Health has “established a superior environment for our students and they appreciate it greatly,” Jenkins added.
Dr. Jenkins began practicing in Gainesville in 1978 and is a founding member of The Longstreet Clinic. He served as TLC’s president from 2002-2004. He is a graduate of the Medical College of Georgia, where he also completed his residency. Dr. Jenkins is a fellow with the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
